Making the transition from foster/ shelter care into an independent adulthood is a fast-paced and often difficult task for youth.  With the help of your donations, POC puts together a “move-in kit” containing the basic necessities a person need when moving in to their first apartment.

Move-in kits are provided to qualifying youth at no cost and may contain the following items, as needed:

  • Body Wash

  • Comforter Set

  • Conditioner

  • Cooking Utensils

  • Deodorant

  • Dish Soap & Sponge

  • Sanitary Products

  • Shampoo

Testimonial: The need for MOVE-IN kits:

“As a former foster youth, I can tell you that settling into your first home and getting all the basic needs can be hard, especially, if one doesn’t have any support system resources. Basic essentials can be toiletries, laundry detergent, dish soap, plates, utensils, pots, pans, towels, & cleaning supplies etc. These little things will go a long way to many young adults moving into their first home/apartment. Being that I come from this background and would sometimes see the struggle that some of my peers would go through just to get toilet paper! A simple need one would think is no biggie, but a concerning problem to some youth out there.”
